GLEANINGS: An Anthology by the NZ Christian Writers Guild. The New Zealand Christian Writers Guild was formed in Auckland in 1983, after participants in a week-long writers’ school agreed on the need for ongoing contact and encouragement. Led first by Bill Haythornthwaite and later by Sue Hungerford and Julie Belding, the Guild aims to help Christians write more effectively, sharpening their skills for use as God directs in both the secular and the religious media. The organisation is both evangelical and interdenominational, with members drawn from throughout New Zealand and overseas and ranging from beginners to professionals. Services include a bimonthly magazine, regular workshops, a postal lending library and a home study journalism course.
